Rootes Group Auto Club of South Australia
Hillman - Sunbeam - Singer - Humber - Commer - Karrier

About

The Rootes Group Auto Club of South Australia Inc. caters for all vehicles wearing a Hillman, Sunbeam, Commer or Karrier badge, no matter when or under which company structure they were produced. Singer and Humber vehicles are catered for by our respective sister clubs. People with an interest in the vehicles are welcome to join, whether they own a vehicle or not. Our membership includes family members and outings are planned to combine a short drive in the cars, followed by socialising to cater for everyone in the family.

The club has about 90 'memberships', so there are around 150 people in the club. We hold combined 'General Meetings' four times a year and the two car brands hold separate 'Register' meetings about once a month to focus on their vehicle brand. Click on the 'Events' link above to see upcoming meetings; visitors are always welcome. Each Register has a page with information about its meetings etc: Hillman Sunbeam

There is quite a large collection of spares for Sunbeam and Hillman models, which are available only to members, plus there are monthly Hillman and Sunbeam newsletters with technical articles, buy and sell, and news on what is happening in the club.

We are part of the rotating annual National Meetings held around Australia each year, with the 2026 Sunbeam Meet in Forster-Tuncurry and the Hillman National Meet in Wagga Wagga both being held in September. We also form a 'Rootes Group' display at the annual All British Day held in February at Echunga in the Adelaide Hills.

The Rootes Group Auto Club of South Australia came into being on 23rd October 2025 by merging the Hillman and Sunbeam Car Clubs of SA. Both clubs realised the benefits and savings of combining two clubs of 50 or so memberships into a larger body, recognising the common underpinnings between the clubs. An ongoing invitation exists for the Humber and Singer Clubs in SA to join us if they wish.

Both Hillman and Sunbeam Clubs have a long history behind them (see the Register pages for more info) and have been participating in joint outings for some years. A combined calendar of events and outings is now in place, giving our members plenty of opportunity to get out in their cars.
